In the spring of 1961, twenty-year-old Siggi (Max Riemelt) comes to Dresden. He falls head over heels in love with the young poet Luise (Jessica Schwarz). Through her, he not only gets to know the notorious dance club “Roter Kakadu”, but also the fun-loving Wolle (Ronald Zehrfeld) – her husband. In the “Red Cockatoo” a completely new, fascinating world opens up to Siggi. But that’s not all: full of hunger for freedom and self-realization, the clique is increasingly cornered by state security – until Siggi takes a decisive step…
