The Unusual Suspect

One for all, all for one! That’s the motto in tranquil Heiterstorf, just outside Hamburg. In order to be accepted again in his hometown, which Gabriel Panski (Maximilian Brückner) once arrogantly left behind, the family man takes on a challenge. After a depressing night of drinking at the rowing club, the heart of Heiterstorf, he suddenly becomes the “man of the hour.” The village wants to help Panski avoid punishment for a heroic deed in the public interest: the murder of Hamburg real estate mogul Butz (Jonas Hien), who wanted to rip everyone off. Although the moneyed heir Erna Gutdorf (Eva Weißenborn) personally scrubbed the crime scene at the rowing club, the evidence leads to Panski. Inspector Winter (Rosalie Thomass) is always one step ahead of the hungover suspect. However, she must realize that her perfect puzzle of evidence leads to a manipulated picture. When the inspector joins forces with the suspect, they uncover a perfidious conspiracy – and an affair involving Panski’s wife Anna (Claudia Kottal), which the beleaguered man would rather not know about.
